We Work Hard To Provide You The Best Quality Natural Toys
Littlemonq Natural Toys are handmade using top quality wood/felt in our workshop in Indonesia. Raw materials are cut by Indonesian craftsmen who have experienced in making children wooden toys for decades. All product developments, coloring, finishing, quality control, and packaging process are done by our team in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia.
Our natural toys are designed to encourage child’s development. Most of them are inline and inspired by Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia approaches to early childhood education.
Our toys are simple and open-ended. Therefore, they spark imagination, curiosity, and creativity. They engage children to a greater extent. Open-ended toys make them more prone to become the active creators of this world. Not only they can be used hundred of different ways, but also they can be combined with one another. Children can use them for years and grow with them.
We understand the “imperfections” of wood as characteristics that make each piece unique. Woods once are living thing, they come with oils, marks, spots, just like humans who have moles, wrinkles, and stretch marks. We value those unique characteristics of wood as natural beauty, not as a defect.
We pride ourselves on using highest quality wood and use teak, mahogany, Indonesian pine, birch, beech, and birch plywood for our wooden toys. We use premium quality merino wool for our felt toys. Kindly note that the wood stain may transfer if you wipe toys with wet cloth or alcohol. This is just the nature of the water-based stains, completely normal, and the stain that is used are safe for skin and environment.
We paint our toys by hand using our unique, non-toxic stains. The stains are safe and environmentally friendly. Working with stains and not acrylic or regular paints allows us to continue having contact with the wood who is warm and kind. We could still see the grain of the wood, feel the texture, pores, spots, and its unique characteristics. We hope our natural toys could help to reconnect us with the natural world.

How it Started
Hello! I am Dian, founder of Littlemonq.
It all started when I, as a mother of one son, interested in learning Montessori method in early childhood education. After joining some Montessori workshops, I want to provide my child with Montessori materials. In my wandering in searching for Montessori materials, I found many wooden-open-ended children toys that not only encourage creativity and critical thinking, but also beautiful in its natural characteristics. Many of them are Montessori and Waldorf inspired toys. Unfortunately, at that time, many of those beautiful wooden toys are really expensive and hard to get in Indonesia. So, I started to search for craftsmen in Indonesia who could make wooden toys I’ve designed, then I painted and finished it myself. My accomplishment in providing my child wooden toys I made myself made new dreams arise: to share the happiness in creating wooden toys at Littlemonq.
